Changing of the Guard
Officers’ Square
(starts July 1st)
7 days a week at 11am and 4pm (also Tues, TTh evenings a 7pm)

History comes to life in downtown Fredericton with the daily Changing of the Guard. Watch as period dressed guard re-enact a drill ceremony to the beat of a piper and drummer. Maybe you might be selected to “inspect’ the guard? One can only cross their fingers and hope!

Haunted Hike
July 1st – Labour Day
Monday to Saturday at 9:15

Tours begin at the Coach House (796A Queen street)
This tour is distinct and exceptional featuring spine tingling frights and funny bone tickling gags. From Canada Day to Labour Day meet the ghosts of historic figures from Fredericton’s past on a lantern-lit tour through Downtown Fredericton. Its fun for the whole family where you meet several phantom thespians along the trail.

Guided Heritage Walking Tours
Daily starting July 2nd, departing from City Hall

Costumed guides will entertain you with local history and folklore as they take you on a FREE walking tour of historic downtown Fredericton. Tours are 1 hour long with 3 choices of tours; 10am - The River Route, 2:30pm – The Capital City Circuit, and 5pm – The Garrison Gait.


A Day in a Soldier’s Life
The Guardhouse, Barrack’s Square
Mon – Tues, Thurs – Sat 11:15am (French) and 1:15 pm (English)

Now you can be a Guardhouse Soldier too! Enlist and enjoy a 1 hour historical adventure to experience life in a British Garrison first hand. And you even get to go home with your own personal photo! Visit www.frederictontourism.ca for more information.


Storyteller Series
Starting July 8th
Wednesday at 3:00 pm, Barracks Square,
Carleton St.

Magical yarns spun by our master storytellers on the deck of the Guardhouse. Lawn chairs are provided for your comfort. Rain venue – Fredericton Public Library.

Croquet Match
Starts July 1st, 2008

Come and play croquet in Barrack’s Square this summer. Takes place at 3:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August.

YOGA at the Lighthouse Adventure Centre
Wednesdays at 7:00pm – July through September

No experience necessary! Please check with the instructor regarding specific health concerns. Bring your own mat or padding. Cost by donation (A regular class costs 15 – 17 $)


Guided Bike Tours
Wednesday – Sunday starting July 2nd
9:30am and 2:30pm

Hop on a bike and explore downtown Fredericton’s riverside trails. Cycle through a rich tapestry of natural beauty and historic landmarks with your experienced guide.

JUNE


Lobster on the Lawn
June 4th, 6pm – 9pm
Officers’ Square

New Brunswick chefs prepare a variety of lobster dishes accompanied by other delicacies, spirits and beverages. Lobster on the Lawn is a delicious fundraising event that will once again take place in support of The Children´s Wish Foundation of Canada.


Maritime CountryFest
June 11 – 14

Under a big top tent, in downtown's Historic Garrison District. Seven acts over four days including a free show in Officers Square, featuring some of the best New Brunswick country music entertainers.

Fredrock
June 19 - 21, 2009

A 3 day rock extravaganza, featuring more than 20 top musical acts hailing from all corners of Canada & the USA. From local artists to major touring acts (including Live and the Black Crowes), Fredrock promises to be an unforgettable event. Yoga Day
June 20th
8am to 5pm

Practice Yoga with your favorite instructors at various locations in downtown Fredericton. Instructor lead classes of various levels will be held at Yoga above Aura, UNB Dance Studio, The Lighthouse (rain location – Pilates by Garda). All proceeds raised will be donated to the Fredericton Emergency Shelter.

Dance lessons, face painting, games, martial arts demonstrations and more!! The Cultural Expressions Festival is set for June 26th and June 27 in Officers’ Square. It’s a celebration of Canadian Multiculturalism Day, June 27th. See a Multicultural Fashion Show and cultural performances, crafts and international food. Don’t miss this event which wraps up with the “Night of a Thousand Lanterns”.
