Fredericton and Gangnam, Seoul Korea Sign Agreement

Fredericton (October 2, 2008) - Fredericton Mayor Brad Woodside has successfully formalized a partnership with Gangnam District of Seoul Korea with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Gangnam.

Gangnam Mayor, Maeng, Jung Ju and Woodside met during the awarding of the World's Most Intelligent City to Gangnam District in New York City in May 2008. During this time the Mayor's took the opportunity to discuss issues of relating to their respective cities and decided to work toward a mutually beneficial partnership culminating in the signing of this MOU.

Mayor Woodside officially congratulated Gangnam on its recent honor and indicated, "This partnership was initiated from a position of mutual respect and will enable us to advance the interests of our citizens in a cooperative manner."

The MOU specifies the partner cities will promote mutual exchange and share knowledge in order to promote growth in the areas of education, information technology, culture and economic development. As a result of this agreement the partners will now develop action plans for cooperative initiatives and advance the relationship.

The City of Fredericton received support to formalize this partnership from Enterprise Fredericton and the Atlantic Language College, a subsidiary of KyoungPyoung International Education Group of Seoul Korea. Mr. Doug Motty. President and General Manager of Enterprise Fredericton and Mr. David Lee, President of Atlantic Language College of Fredericton and Mr. Brian Choy, President of KyoungPyoung International participated in the signing ceremony.
