The Fredericton Playhouse Nominated for East Coast Music Award
And the award for Venue of the Year goes to…
Fredericton – The Fredericton Playhouse was given an early Christmas gift when the Industry Award nominations for the 2009 East Coast Music Awards were announced on December 23. The Playhouse has been nominated for Venue of the Year, an award that will be given out at the FACTOR Industry Awards Brunch on Sunday, March 1st at the Pepsi Centre in Corner Brook, NL during the East Coast Music Awards, Festival & Conference.
“We’re very happy to have been nominated,” said Tim Yerxa, Executive Director of the Playhouse. “The entire staff here works year-round to provide quality and excellence in presenting performing arts, and it’s great to be recognized with this nomination.”
The Fredericton Playhouse is a 709-seat professional performance venue available for local, national, and international artists and companies. It also presents touring artists as part of its own professional series and offers a comprehensive education and outreach program.
The ECMA Industry awards celebrate those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to build and maintain the strong East Coast music industry. Award nominees are chosen by juries of industry professionals from all five regions of the East Coast Music Association: Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, mainland Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island. In January, voting ballots will be sent to all eligible members of the East Coast Music Association, who will vote on the award winners.
The Fredericton Playhouse has been the recipient of the ECMA Venue of the Year award twice before, in 2006 and 2007.
