Fredericton Playhouse Nominated for 2010 ECMA Venue of the Year
Fredericton – The Fredericton Playhouse has been nominated for Venue of the Year for the 2010 East Coast Music Awards, Festival and Conference. The announcement came this morning from the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre in Sydney, NS. The award will be given out at the FACTOR Industry Awards Brunch on Friday, March 5th during the ECMA event in Cape Breton.
“We’re very happy to have been nominated,” said Tim Yerxa, Executive Director of the Playhouse. “The entire staff here works year-round to provide quality and excellence in presenting performing arts, and it’s great to be recognized with this nomination.”
The Fredericton Playhouse is a 709-seat professional performance venue available for local, national, and international artists and companies. It also presents touring artists as part of its own professional series and offers a comprehensive education and outreach program.
The ECMA Industry awards celebrate those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to build and maintain the strong East Coast music industry. Award nominees are chosen by juries of industry professionals from all five regions of the East Coast Music Association: Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, mainland Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island. In January, voting ballots will be sent to all eligible members of the East Coast Music Association, who will vote on the award winners.
This is the fifth time that the Fredericton Playhouse has been nominated Venue of the Year. It received the award three times: in 2006, 2007, and 2009.
