More New Art and Fine Craft Exhibits for the next Downtown Fredericton Culture Crawl

The fifth installment in the summer-long Downtown Fredericton Culture Crawl series takes place Thursday, September 27th from 5-8pm. During the popular event, 14 downtown galleries, studio spaces, fine craft outlets and a historical museum open their doors to the public for a free festive evening of gallery hopping and studio visits.

Other new exhibitions include Area Code 506 - An Homage to New Brunswick at Gallery 78. This group exhibition features artists and scenery of New Brunswick. The City Hall Gallery features a new exhibition of fine craft in textiles and clay by Janice Wright Cheney, Jacqueline Bourque, Shanie Stozek and Kim Bent.
Fine craft is the focus this year during the Canadian Craft Federation’s Craft Year. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is hosting three fine craft exhibitions. Materialize: Contemporary Craft in New Brunswick is coordinated by the New Brunswick Crafts Council and showcases cutting edge work from the province’s premier craft artists.

An exhibition of 10 contemporary glass sculptures from the Sandra Ainsley Gallery in Toronto opens in the Beaverbrook’s Annex Gallery. Leap of Faith, an exhibition of selected works from the faculty of New Brunswick College of Craft and Design continues.

An exhibition of antique purses continues at the York Sunbury Museum. Its All in the Bag showcases a private collection of 150 purses dating as far back as the early 19th century.

Mazerolle Gallery’s exhibition of brightly painted Whimsical Trees and Women on Board continues. Wander through Sue Lawrence Hair Spa and Gallery and see a collection of artist-made fixtures, paintings, sculptures, and more throughout the space. Aitken’s Pewter will demonstrate pewtersmithing techniques.
