Downtown Gallery Hop

Gather your friends together for an evening of gallery hopping in downtown Fredericton! View the latest exhibitions, meet the artists and gallery owners and directors and enjoy light refreshments and music.

Participating galleries include:

  • Gallery 78 – Explore the exhibit “Summer Dreaming” featuring new work by Cathy Ross, Sarah Sackville, Jennifer Pazienza, Amber Leger, Nat Cann, Marla Benton and more. Take in an artist demonstration with printmaker Nat Cann. Summer card making activity available for children (and children at heart). Delicious summer lemon and berry trifle served with lemonade.
  • Beaverbrook Art Gallery – Enjoy music with Colin Cyr in the Harrison McCain pavilion. Visit the pop up art studio for all ages in the Harrison McCain pavilion where you can make a button, collage or plasticine sculpture! Artist Janice Wright-Cheney will be present in the artist-in-residence studio to host visitors and present her ongoing project.
  • The Artisan District – Ron Leger will be painting en plein air, and Andrew McCullough will be in to talk about The Great Pottery Throwdown experience. Put your name in the draw for a gift basket or Andrew’s work! Refreshments will be served.
  • Gallery on Queen – TBA
  • George Fry Gallery – on display in the gallery is Playground, the Advance Studio Practice exhibition. Engage with the recruitment team who will be on site to talk about the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design and the Advance Studio Practice program. Refreshments available.
  • Charlotte Street Arts Centre
    • Artist and NBCCD grad Emily Chase will be doing live sketching throughout the event
    • There will be an outdoor Capital Art Sale pop-up (weather permitting) with all art $100 or less.
    • Artists Guy Vezina, Milda Titford and Matt Watkins will have their individual studios open to welcome visitors, discuss their work and their creative processes. 
    • Open Your Art will also be open and welcoming visitors for a tour of their studio.
    • Visitors can also enjoy new work by Stephanie Weirathmueller, Gill Salmon, and Sarah Eddie on display in the Charlotte Glencross and Penny Galleries. 
    • Visitors can also see the second installment in Connexion Artist-Run-Centre’s 40th anniversary exhibition series, made up of a wealth of archival material spanning the centre’s history. Once known as Gallery Connexion and once located in the rear of the Justice Building, this organization has been helping push the boundaries of contemporary art in Fredericton since 1984.
    • CSAC Artist in Residence Charles Harding will provide an atmospheric soundtrack for the evening event made up of layered samples, field recordings and melodic textures. 

Gallery admissions are free of charge during the gallery hop.
