EclipseFest Fredericton

Fredericton Capital Region Tourism is organizing a long weekend of events to celebrate the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse. This rare and spectacular event can only be experienced along a narrow strip on the Earth’s surface and Fredericton will be in the direct path of the total solar eclipse. Whether you’re an astronomer or just curious about this grand spectacle of nature, EclipseFest Fredericton is a great time to visit Fredericton, New Brunswick.

EclipseFest Fredericton will feature:
➡️ Exhibits, special programming and presentations at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Fredericton Public Library, Fredericton Region Museum, New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame,
➡️ Science East Science Centre will present their Planetarium eclipse-themed show all weekend at the Fredericton Public Library with kids workshops, STEM exhibits, and Astronomy and safety viewing sessions.
➡️ Theatre presentations, story-telling, crafts and food all in a festive atmosphere in downtown Fredericton.

During the eclipse on Monday afternoon that begins at 3:23 pm, the moon will completely block the sun for 2-3 minutes at 4:33pm. The partial eclipse will be visible for about 2 hours, weather permitting. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada New Brunswick Centre (RASC) will host a public observing session with telescopes, exhibits, and safety information.

Many Downtown Businesses will be offering specials for the occasion, including:

  • Flash Day at Moonlight Tattoo on April 6 from 11-5. 6 tattoo artists offering walk-ins. First come, first served. The first 40 tattoos receive eclipse glasses. Astral based designs plus designs available for everyone from the first timer to the tattoo collector.
  • Solar Eclipse Paint Night at RustiCo on April 6
  • Eclipse Paint & Sip at The Dandy Paint Lounge on April 7 – Make your own eclipse painting! No experience required; all ages and skill levels welcome. $40 (includes all material, expert instruction, one drink of your choice)
  • Menu and drink specials at:
    • The Joyce Pub (Crowne Plaza), cocktail special
    • Southside Shake (Hilton Garden Inn), Flavours collide in this week’s cosmic feature cocktail: “Gravity!” Taste the Empress Gin 1908, Elderflower liqueur, butterfly pea syrup, lemon juice, and soda water. Perfect for toasting to the upcoming Solar Eclipse on April 8th!

    • The Squeeze: From April 1-8, try out the special “Eclipse Smoothie”, and reap the health benefits too! Smoothies include coconut activated charcoal powder.
    • 11th Mile – Day for Night – Is it breakfast? Is it supper? Who cares? 11th Mile is joining in the fun of Eclipse Fest in Fredericton this week with this special dish: featuring black rice, oven-roasted tomatoes, egg yolk, tare sauce and Chinese sausage, this dish combines all the best of your favourite early morning and late night meals. Offered: April 3-6.

    • Smoke’s Poutinerie: ask the staff to add crushed Sun Chips on your poutine, or enjoy Sun Chips as a side, while quantities last! Limited quantities of eclipse glasses available for customers.
    • King West Brewing & RustiCo. Hosting an Eclipse Watch Party from 2pm on. Enjoy $𝟱 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 on April 8! Our finest Black IPA brewed with 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘅𝘆 & 𝗘𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀. See you there! The first 50 walk-ins will receive Eclipse Glasses.
  • Watch for the Eclipse-themed flyer from Victory Meat & Produce Market April 1!
  • Pick up an Eclipse Bouquet from Hanson Road Flower Co.! Illuminate your celebrations with a stunning Eclipse themed bouquet, inspired by the celestial wonder of the Fredericton Eclipse Fest! Designed to capture the mystique of the cosmos, each bouquet will be a mesmerizing blend of galactic hues and cosmic charm. Available April 6 & 7!
  • O’Hickey’s Irish Pub will have live music on Friday and Saturday night and trivia on Sunday for Eclipse Fest festival goers. Monday night (April 8) they will have live music starting at 7:30pm. Plus, check out their Eclipse Fest themed drinks!
  • Watch for Eclipse-themed window displays at downtown businesses, including Westminster Bookmark, Victory Meat & Produce Market, Hilton Garden Inn and Crowne Plaza!
  • New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame – Safely observe a live stream of the eclipse on their theatre screen April 8 from 3:30pm-5:45pm. Plus, the Hall of Fame will be open April 6 from 9am-1pm and April 8 from 1pm-6pm when you can check out their exhibits and learn about NB’s Sports All Stars!
